Wearable Expressions, the juried international exhibit for wearable art, is slated to open tomorrow at the Palos Verdes Art Center:
“Art-to-wear is the unique creation of an artist seeking a fresh alternative to the conventional media of painting and sculpture,” says curator of the exhibit, Gabrielle. “Each exhibition brings works made with new technology as well as pieces created with unexpected materials used in unusual ways. Many are also very serious conceptual works of fiber or jewelry art expressing the concerns and viewpoints of our time.”
This year’s exhibit includes 250 fiber and jewelry creations from a total of 166 artists from all over the world. Artists representing beadwork include Lisa Klakulak, Lana May, Jean Power, Tatiana Van Iten, and Susan Mandel (aka Beadweaver). Awards will be announced tomorrow evening at the event's opening (open to the public). To learn more, click on the title above.
