Amy Loh Kupser's Thimble Catchers

amy loh kupserI have been a big fan of Amy Loh-Kupser's bead designs for as long as I can remember. She blends colors beautifully and I especially love her use of background patterns with her images. I recently purchased one of her newest pattern books Thimble Catchers - Volume 3 and I love the designs. Wouldn't the Strawberry (shown right) be perfect for summer?! What is wonderful about this book is that it creates unique shapes including a hot cocoa pot and cup & saucer:

"This book is more than just small cases to hold thimbles. They've evolved into some unique shapes that make great necklaces." ~Amy

To see Thimble Catchers - Volume 3 click on the title above. While you're there, be sure to check out her newest patterns too. She has a lot to offer! Enjoy.

Made in Ethiopia

Imagine if half of everything we bought said "Made in Africa". Do you think the world would be a better place? I do. And one company in Ethiopia thinks so too. Taytu is a collective of workers scattered throughout the country that produces textiles, leather items, and purses. Take a look at some of their work by clicking on the title above. You'll find beautifully embroidered textiles and well thought out leather purses. And while you're there, take a minute to notice the product photography. It's wonderful. What Taytu has done is set beautiful products amidst a contrast of colors, shapes, and environments. Who would expect to find a delicately laced purse amongst old petrol-cans-turned-cantenes? The Taytu site and products are just beautiful, so take a moment & take a look. (Note: The color tabs on the left of their home page will link you to their product images). No beadwork here but lots of ingenuity for loads of inspiration!
