Major Jewelry Event Returns to Milwaukee

Despite economic distress, jewelry enthusiasts from around the globe flock to the 2008 Bead&Button Show for a week of classes and shopping. Early numbers point to record year.

WAUKESHA, Wis. -- Anyone with a passion for jewelry, fashion or art should experience the 2008 Bead&Button Show, June 1-8, at the Midwest Airlines Center in Milwaukee.

No event in the country celebrates jewelry making and its participants better than the annual Bead&Button Show. Last year's Show welcomed more than 14,000 visitors from all 50 states and 26 countries.

June 6-8 the Bead&Button Show will transform the Midwest Airlines Center's third floor into an international marketplace as more than 370 vendors from around the world show off and sell their jewelry pieces and one-of-a-kind beads. For those three days, shoppers enjoy the unique opportunity to purchase handcrafted jewelry from the artist who created it.

If shoppers can't find the jewelry piece they're looking for, they can learn to make it during one of the more than 530 classes available at all skill levels. Register in advance or at the Show.

Bead&Button magazine and its parent company Kalmbach Publishing Co. of Waukesha, Wis., produce the Bead&Button Show.

Dear Suzyq,

Isn't is amazing that beadweavers are finding a way to continue to bead, even when we have to watch our expenses because of high gas and food costs? It tells me that creativity is essential for the human spirit, especially when we have other things on our minds. Thank you for writing about the Bead&Button Show, it's true that we have strong registration and class enrollment for the show again this year, even as we think about living expenses. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you who plan to come to Milwaukee next week. When you see the Bead&Button editors at the show, don't hesitate to stop us and say hello.
